GGL to sponsor 2nd Seminar on
"Internet Threats" Jan. 28
th

Gamma Gamma Lambda will be hosting its second of a Project Alpha series of seminars. Each seminar will have focus of subjects geared toward assisting African-American youth, especially young African-American men. The seminar will be held on Thursday, January 28th at 6 PM at Disciples Fellowship Baptist Church (see directions, below).

This month focus is on Internet Threats with new technologies, and social networks such as FaceBook ™, Twitter ™, MySpace ™, and other services. Topics will include common social networking services and practices, What is “Sexting” & how to talk youth about its dangers, the latest threats to youth, and simple measures you can take to reduce the risk to your youth when using these services.

Previous seminar in November 2009 was on "Preventing Gang Violence" in the Update area.

David Buckley is the Director of Security Infrastructure for the campus IT Security group at Clemson University with extensive expertise on countering IT Threats. David has a passion for protecting today's youth and uses his expertise in security to speak regularly to youth groups and parents about youth protecting themselves properly from Internet dangers.

We will have other community leaders in the audience for a Question & Answer session afterwards. Members of Gamma Gamma Lambda will have information about our next seminar later this Spring.

Please contact Bobby Clark at (864) 656-0950 or email projectalpha@gglapa.org if you have any questions about the event. Refreshments will be provided at the event.

We are asking large groups who wish to attend to send an approximate number that will attend by January 26th.
