Annual Charity Golf Tournament scheduled June 8th
Alpha Phi Alpha Greenville Foundation hosing the tenth annual event at Furman University's Golf course
to support for local scholarships

Greenville, South Carolina - Please join us for the annual Robert Anderson Charity Golf Tournament, sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha Greenville Foundation with Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha as a major sponsor along with General Electric, Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, The Blood Connection, Piedomont Natural Gas, Vision Plus, and US&S, Inc.

This year's tournament will be held on June 8, 2013 at Furman University's Golf Course (Greenville, SC 29690) beginning with shotgun start at Noon, with Check-in starting at 10:30 AM.

Lunch and Range Balls will be provided for Registrants. You can also pre-register at rwagolf-upstate.eventbrite.com up to the start of the tournament. Registration is $75 per player. Skins Games is $10 per player.

Cash prizes will include First, Second, Third Place in multiple tiers, and four closest to pin awards. The Format will be 4-man Blind Draw with two flight. Proceeds go to support the Luke H. Chatman Scholarship for local High School Students. Sponsorship opportunities are available as well for $100 per hole. All Sponsorships must be submitted by May 31st.


RWA-sm Dr. Robert W. Anderson was a graduate of South Carolina State College (University), and North Carolina Central College (University) School of Law. He did further study at Cornell University, the University of North Carolina, St. Louis University, and Atlanta University. He served as the first African-American Farm Agent for Greenville County and the first African-American Director of The Community Action Program in Greenville, now known as S.H.A.R.E. He was co-founder, Charter Member, and first President of Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. While serving as president Dr. Anderson was instrumental in providing the upstate with many cultural, civic, and educational affairs, to include but not limited to presenting Greenville County to the world renowned Opera singer Marian Anderson.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on December 4, 1906. The Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter was chartered on August 24, 1941 in Greenville, South Carolina under the Umbrella of the National Organization and the first African-American Greek-Letter Alumni Chapter in the Upstate of South Carolina.
