GGL to hold second annual Golf Tournament at Carolina Springs

Greenville, SC: Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity will sponsor the Robert W. Anderson, II Memorial Golf Tournament on May 22, 2004 at Carolina Springs Golf Course in Fountain Inn, SC. This will make the second year the Chapter has held tournament to raise money for the Luke H. Chatman Scholarship Fund and the Martin Luther King Memorial Project.

The Tournament’s Entry Fee of $65 will include green fees, cart fee, door prizes and a boxed lunch. Registration will began at 10 AM and the First tee time will start at 11 AM. Groups may purchase Hole Sponsorships for $100 per hole. Entry Deadline for all entries and scholarships is May 15, 2004. Rain Date for the Tournament will be June 19, 2004.

The Chapter has for twenty-six years coordinated and given the Luke H. Scholarship to local high school students in the Upstate of South Carolina. Last year, the Chapter gave one $3,000 scholarship, and has given more the $50,000 dollars since the scholarship's inception.

The National MLK Memorial Project is national effort to build a Washington, DC monument in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King was perhaps America’s most prominent leader of the Civil Right Movement and a brother of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Inc. A portion of the tournament’s proceeds will go toward the Project. For more information about the Project, please view their web site at www.mlkmemorial.org .

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is the nation's first African-American Greek-letter fraternity established by college students. Established on December 4, 1906 on the campus of Cornell University, Alpha Phi Alpha has more than 750 chapters worldwide with over 125,000 members. Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter is the Greenville chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha established in 1941.
