Greenville is one of more than 500 sites across the
country taking part in Project Alpha, a program sponsored
by Alpha
Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and
the March of Dimes to prevent teenage pregnancy. As a part of Project Alpha
Week, the upstate chapters in Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Rock Hill
and Clemson will work with local middle school and high school boys to help
them better understand their role in responsible behavior and make better life
choices.
Project Alpha uses videos, hand-outs and small-group discussions led by experts
in health education and law. Discussion is both informal and frank and the
safe environment encourages young men to ask about responsibility and respect.
Since 1980, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the March of Dimes have been sponsoring
Project Alpha to help young men make positive choices about sexual behavior
and their responsibilities.
