GGL names its 2007 Luke H. Chatman Scholarship winner

MAULDIN, SC- Maurice Motley of Mauldin, SC was awarded the Luke H. Chatman Memorial Scholarship by the Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. on Tuesday night at Mauldin High School's Annual Award Ceremony.

The Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter annually presents the Luke H. Chatman Memorial Scholarship to a high school senior who exhibits academic achievement, leadership, citizenship and service to the community.

Maurie Motely receives his scholarship from Brothers Antuan Russ and Mark Dawson in the Maudlin HS Ceromony.

Through this scholarship, Gamma Gamma Lambda has given more than $53,000 to worthy students, aspiring for higher education. Motley, who plans to attend Francis Marion University this fall, will receive $3,000.00 over four years.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is the nation's first Greek-letter fraternity established by African-American college students established on December 4, 1906 on the campus of Cornell University. There are more than 700 chapters worldwide with over 100,000 members. Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter is the local chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha in Greenville, SC, established on August 24, 1941.
