NPHC Council promotes Greek Awareness
with Day of Fellowship
Local Greek members are asked to wear their Greek lapel pins on February 22th

GREENVILLE, SC: The National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC) of Greater Greenville is again promoting Greek Awareness in Upstate Greenville. The local’s council is promoting “A Day of Fellowship” in the upstate on February 22, 2009.

Council is asking Greek members to wear their Greek fraternity Lapel pins to their local Church services on Sunday, February 22, and make an announcement in the services about the Council and nine local chapters which make up the Greenville Area. Brochures about the Council and sample Church announcement are available to members to use on that Day, by contacting the Council Leadership at contact@upstatescpan.org.

This is a change from previous fellowships where the council membership selected a church and requested all Greek membership to attend that service. This year the council decided to expand the view of the event and ask Greek membership to attend services in their own church communities. “The idea here is awareness. Many people don’t know much about NPHC organizations and what we bring to their community.”, said Council President Jody Fields, “Many don’t even realize they have Greek members in their Church performing services every day.”

The Day will close with the fellowship at Holiday Inn at Augusta Road & I-85 after services starting 1:30 PM. There Greeks and their families from all local Chapters can fellowship over Sunday Brunch with each other.

The National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC, www.nphc.org ) is a national organization made up of the nine predominately African-American Greek organizations for College men and women.

The NPHC of Greater Greenville (www.upstatescpan.org ) is made up of eight local chapters of those nine organizations which include the following active members: Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; Eta Tau Omega and Pi Zeta Omega Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.; Greenville Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; Mu Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; Alpha Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; Eta Sigma Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.; and the Nu Delta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Released as a curiosity by Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
