|
Greenville, South Carolina - Gamma Gamma
Lambda was proud to participate in WalkAmerica held at Greenville
Technical College on May 6. The Chapter
has raised more than $2,000 and is well on it's way to competing our 1st
place status. More than dozen brothers and their family participate in the March or gave to our effort this year.
Brothers Alex Kinlaw and Bobby Clark, our 2017 Team Co-Captains, did
an great job leading the chapter’s March for Babies effort. This year
marks the twenty year GGL has participated locally in March for Babies, formerly WalkAmerica, and has raised nearly than $44,000 since 1997. |
GGL's Tailgate servered as a meeting point with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Chapters, and several other NPHC organizations includng Phi Beta Sigma and Alpha Kappa Alpha, Fraternity, Inc.who participated in the March this year. Alpha Phi Alpha and Zeta Phi Beta have shared a Kickoff event for March for Babies in South Carolina since 2003.
At
this point, GGL has exceeds its efforts from last
year which we collected approximately $1,900. Brothers
can still turn in funds on-line until June 30th and by check until September 1st, through the local March of Dimes offices. Last year, Gamma Gamma Lambda raised the third most funds of any
Alpha Chapter in the District of South Carolina.
March of Dimes and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. have national
partnership for more than 30 years. The supported event, called
Project Alpha, is a day-long seminar which illustrates to give
young males,
especially African-American males, the importance of being sexual
responsible. Gamma Gamma Lambda has conducted a Project Alpha
Seminar for last twenty years. Go to our Alpha Phi Alpha Greenville Foundation website for more information our past and upcoming Project Alpha.
