Simpsonville, SC: The Greater-Greenville
National Pan Hellenic Council held its annual Greek Cookout at
Simpsonville Park on August 14, 2004, from 4 -9 PM. About
50 local NPHC Greek members and their families attended the event.
Those present enjoyed refreshments and food to include Corn-on
cob, Burgers, Hot Dogs and Jerk Chicken.
Bobby Clark, current Council President, remarked, “I want
to thank everyone for all the work in making this year's cookout
a big success. We had one of our largest turnouts in several
years, and much lot that success goes to our representative’s
effort for getting the word out to our fellow Greeks.”
The Greater-Greenville Council is made up of eleven chapters
from the Greenville, Greer, and Spartanburg areas. Each Chapter
is represented by two representatives and alternative member.
National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC) is made of nine national
predominately black Greek organizations. The Annual Greek Cookout
is one of three signature events sponsored by the Council throughout
the year. The two other events are the Third-Thursday Mixers
held monthly at the Holiday Inn (Augusta Road) and the Day of
Fellowship held in
the spring.
More information about the Council and their upcoming events
can be found on their web site, www.upstatescpan.org.
Next year’s
cookout date has already been set from August 20, 2005 at Southside
Park, 4-9 PM.
