Greenville, South Carolina - Gamma Gamma Lambda will again be the lead chapter hosting the South Carolina District Conference (SCDC) on October 10-12, 2014 at the Greenville Hilton in Greenville, SC. The annual event gathers SC District's, sometimes referred as SC Alpha, thirty-two College and Alumni chapters from across the state to participate in competitions, symposiums, business sessions, and fellowship events for the upcoming year. The Conference's Theme is "SC Alpha: Developing Our Community Through Empowerment, Advocacy & Service!". The District conference was last held in Greenville in 2010.
This year is the celebration of the 54th year of Alpha Phi Alpha in South Carolina which began with Greenville-native Bro. Luke H. Chatman, as the first SC State Director of Alpha. District and Local Leadership are planning a weekend of fellowship and celebration along with the Business of Alpha.
"We are proud to again host this event in Greenville", says Kynan Robinson, Chairman of the Local Planning Committee, which includes chapters from Clemson, Anderson, Spartanburg, and Rock Hill. "The Greenville area is a great place to host this event". This year's conference will include a Public Program, a slate of ladies activities, Step Show, Miss Black & Gold Pageant and Conference-ending Award Program, where winners of district competitions will be announced. |
This conference is expected to have more than 200 delegates with their families in attendance and there will be several public events on Friday and Saturday. There will also be opportunites for Brothers and their spouses to see Greenville and experience Upstate area. Here is a tentative schedule of the public events scheduled for the Conference Weekend.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The Fraternity initially served as a study and support group for minority students who faced racial prejudice – educationally and socially – at Cornell. The founders and early leaders of the Fraternity succeeded in laying a firm foundation for Alpha Phi Alpha's principles of scholarship, fellowship, good character, and the uplifting of humanity. South Carolina District of Alpha Chapters (SCAlpha) is state-wide organization of Alpha Chapters consisting of the thirty-two (32) chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. representing the District of South Carolina. Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter is the Greenville, SC Chapter established in 1941.
