LUKE H. CHATMAN SCHOLARSHIP
GGL Releases 2002 Scholarship application

GREENVILLE, SC: Annually, the Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. awards the Luke H. Chatman Memorial Scholarship to deserving high school seniors.

The Chapter is releasing today the 2002 Luke H. Chatman Memorial Scholarship application packet, which includes the scholarship application, recommendation forms and instruction sheet. The deadline for submitting the packet is April 5, 2002.

These scholarships are based on the whole person concept, which encompasses academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, athletics and service to the community. Also, an applicant's financial need will be considered in the selection of the scholarships. As started last year, the scholarship two letters of Reference from the community. If one or both of the reference is a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha, the application will receive preference in the selection process.

Last year, the chapter awarded three $1,000.00 scholarships for the 2000-2001 school year. The number of scholarships for this year will be announced Feb 21, 2002 on our web site (www.gglapa.org). That number is based on our fundraising efforts from The MLK Annual Scholarship Banquet. The Banquet will be held every January 21, 2002.

Any questions regarding the scholarship should be directed to Bobby Clark, Director of Education Activities, via email message at carlc@alumni.clemson.edu.
