Steadman Bonner Named 2008 LHC Scholarship Winner

MAULDIN, SC- On Saturday, June 21, 2008, the Gamma Gamma Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. announced Steadman Bonner, a graduate of Mauldin High School as the winner of its 2008 Luke H. Chatman scholarship.

Mr. Bonner, a recent May 2008 graduate of Mauldin High School, was selected among several worthy entries as the recipient of the $3,000 scholarship awarded over four years.

Graduating Mauldin High School with a cumulative GPA of 3.5, Mr. Bonner is expecting to enroll at South Carolina State University in the fall semester. This is the second consecutive time our scholarship has been award to a graduate of Mauldin High School. Through this scholarship, Gamma Gamma Lambda has given more than $56,000 to worthy students, aspiring for higher education.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is the nation's first Greek-letter fraternity established by African-American college students established on December 4, 1906 on the campus of Cornell University. There are more than 700 chapters worldwide with over 100,000 members. Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter is the local chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha in Greenville, SC, established on August 24, 1941.
